The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Governance Coordinator to join the Office of the CEO on a temporary six-month Temp role while the current incumbent undertakes an internal secondment.

Reporting into the governance leadership team, you will take ownership of the organisation's governance and compliance functions, providing expert advice to senior leaders while ensuring legislative obligations are met. This is a varied role encompassing corporate governance, policy development, statutory compliance, Right to Information and Information Privacy matters, complaints management, insurance and claims, and corporate reporting.

Working closely with executive leaders and managers across the organisation, you'll have the opportunity to influence governance practices, strengthen compliance frameworks and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead corporate governance and legislative compliance activities
  • Coordinate policy development, review and governance frameworks
  • Manage Right to Information, Information Privacy and Public Interest Disclosure matters
  • Oversee complaints management, statutory reporting and governance registers
  • Provide governance advice to senior leaders and managers
  • Manage insurance renewals and claims administration
  • Monitor legislative changes and drive governance best practice across the organisation

About You

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in governance, compliance, policy development or legislative administration, ideally within Local Government, State Government or a similar regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of governance legislation, including the Local Government Act, Right to Information and privacy legislation
  • Excellent analytical, research and report writing skills
  • The ability to interpret legislation and provide practical governance advice
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to independently manage a diverse workload
  • Experience developing policies, governance frameworks and statutory documentation
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public administration, law, business or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
